Introducing the SilcaGrate™

The SilcaGrate™, developed by StoneDeks, is a patented structural underlayment system that turns ordinary wood or metal-framed decks into durable stone, paver, brick, or tile surfaces.

Material: Made from thick, engineered recycled polymer, SilcaGrate has a hexagonal honeycomb structure that provides support every 2 inches.
Dimensions & Weight: Each grate measures 16″ × 18″, is 1.5″ thick, and weighs about 4 lbs.
Certified Strength: Tested to hold over 500 lb per grate for at least 30 days, supporting heavy surface materials safely.

How the SToneDeks SilcaGrate™ WOrks

Installation on Joists

Placed directly over joists (wood or metal) for new construction.

Inside of joists with cleats for existing deck structures. The grates are screwed in using #9, 3″ deck screws at each corner.

Cutting & Fit

Grates are easily trimmed with a handsaw or circular saw to fit edges, around posts, or to adjust layout.

Accessory Layers

SilcaMat™ or geotextile blankets are laid over the grates for mold resistance and noise reduction.
SilcaSpacers™ ensure uniform spacing for tile or stone joints, improving alignment and drainage.

Surface Application

Finally, stone, porcelain, pavers, brick, or tile (ranging from ¾″ to 3″ thick) are laid over the system. Polymeric sand is typically used between joints.

Excavate And Prep

Excavate base base to ½ of ICPI or local building code. (may vary with soil conditions). Install geotextile fabric. Install aggregate base and compact.

INstall SoilGrid^®

Start installation at a corner of the area. Each SoilGrid^® interlocks to give you an easy, straight, and solid foundation. Fill the installed SoilGrid^® with aggregate and compact to level.

Install Pavers

Install pavers. Additional textile, adhesive, or polymeric sand can be used depending on your conditions. Your hardscape is more than 90% permeable. Perfect for walkways, driveways, patios, and pools.

SilcaMat™

SilcaMat™ is a permeable, rubber underlayment that can be installed on top of the SilcaGrate™ and underneath the porcelain, stone, or other pavers. SilcaMat™ reduces the sliding and horizontal movement of pavers during installation, as well as deadens sound for the finished floor.

The SilcaMat™ is resistant to mold, bacteria, and fungi and is
extremely stable in both cold and hot climates. It’s also
eco-friendly because it’s made from 94% recycled rubber.
