This project was one where the homeowner wanted a raised, tiered patio in his backyard, but had multiple issues going against him:

1) To build a 6 foot retaining wall and backfill against the foundation of the house and the addition they were adding to their home to be able to achieve the desired hardscape look wouldn't have been possible. The weight of the backfill alone against the house would not have met code.

2) They were on a sloped backyard, so getting heavy machinery and equipment up to the job area would have been a huge challenge as well.

So they were told that their only options were a wood or composite deck, until the contractor found the StoneDeks System, which changed everything. They built tiered deck frames, built retaining walls around those deck frames to give it that traditional hardscaped look, and used the StoneDeks SilcaGrates to support their beautiful concrete pavers.
