Get Your Outdoor Living Spaces Ready for Football Season
Are you counting the days until football season starts? If watching football and entertaining outdoors is your fall passion, now is the time to start thinking about getting that outdoor living area ready for the season.
Nothing is better than when your outdoor space is an extension of your indoor space. For your football gatherings make sure you have enough seating, and plenty of room to put your beverages and food. To soften your outdoor space, add some finishing touches that will give your visitors a sense of comfort.
Bring the Inside Out
For a great touch that adds so much to the look and feel of an outdoor living space, add an area rug as well as bright pillows on your chairs. Make sure your chairs are comfortable enough for people to sit on for an entire game. Hard to believe, I know, but some of your guests may not be as involved in the big game as others. You want them to be as comfortable as the enthusiasts that are jumping up and down with every field goal.
Food Food and More Food
Is there anything better than tailgate food? I think not. So put your thinking cap on and do a little web-searching to find just the right food for your guests. You can go with traditional wings, nachos, sliders and dips, or you can enjoy prime rib, pulled pork or smoked ribs. If it is going to be a cooler day, try some homemade soups. The options are endless. Just make sure that you plan the right amount for the number of guests that you invite.
Don’t forget to ask your friends to bring their favorite football watching dish. Trading recipes and tastes always adds something special to a social gathering.
Drinks Anyone?
It’s always nice to have a variety of beverages on hand so that your guests have a selection to choose from. It’s always acceptable to ask your guests to bring the beverage of their choice, too. You can break out the coolers, or plug in that new patio fridge so that you will have cold beverages when you need them. If there’s a chill in the air, be prepared to serve coffee and hot chocolate.
Back to the Yard and Patio
With the weather still hot, it’s hard to think about fall. But football starts early, and your fall flowers will soon be in bloom. Think now about planting flowers that will stagger in their blooming cycle. In that way, your guests will appreciate a colorful area while they enjoy your outdoor living space. You can even plant flowers that have the colors of your favorite football team. A bouquet of team colored flowers on your patio table will really add to the fun.
You might want to consider purchasing a heater for your patio for those chilly evening games that are later in the season. This keeps everyone from having to bundle up in blankets and jackets. Another way to stay warm during those late games is with a fire pit. Lighting your patio is also a way to add charm and personality to your outdoor living.
However you decorate, whatever you serve, the most important thing is to enjoy your outdoor living space with family and friends. Watching football is the perfect reason for a great fall get-together.
